A common condition that can affect both men and women, droopy eyes are mainly caused by the process of ageing. Unilateral ptosis affects one eye, and bilateral ptosis happens when both eyes are affected.
It is the levator muscle moves that moves the eyelid, and as we age, this muscle becomes stretched. As a result, the weakness of the muscle is less supportive to the skin on the eyelid, causing a fallen eyelid.
If this condition is quite significant, it may affect the vision, as the eyelid droops so low it starts to cover over the eye. When this occurs, the affected person will often begin to tilt their back in order to see properly. Aching eyes can often be associated with this concern, as well as eyes that are dry and watery. This process can also be as a result of trauma to the eye, and in some cases, a person is born with it. If this is the case, medical investigation would be required to find out the cause, and a more invasive approach may be required to correct the problem.
When affected by this condition a person may feel like they have a tired appearance that also makes them look older than their years.
At PPP Laser Clinic, a variety of treatments are available to address the condition of droopy eyes. When the eyes are lifted, your confidence can be restored and a rejuvenated appearance to the eyes will ensure you look more youthful.
